I joined Character.com at the beginning of the pandemic. It was a great opportunity within a great organisation at a very turbulent time.
The pandemic has brought a few challenges that we have had to address – first off, working with our suppliers to ensure a consistency of supply chain. We have long-standing strong relationships with our suppliers, which has been vital to the success in supporting each other in overcoming each other’s challenges.
We have also had to assess our operating model at our warehouse, adopting additional measures to ensure that our employees remain safe and that business continuity is maintained.
ACCA has offered great support throughout the pandemic. I’ve attended a number of different events, which have offered knowledge and insight into certain sectors. It has also helped bring members together at a time when we are all physically kept apart. I thrive on learning from others and sharing knowledge and experiences.

My two greatest achievements are getting my MBA, and then more recently getting my first non-executive director (NED) position for a large charity in South Wales. I am now focusing on bedding into the new NED role and spending time developing the team at Character.com.

My son has had a huge impact on my life; he makes me realise anything is possible, how to bounce back from challenges in life and to always strive forward and be positive. I love to explore and travel, finding unique places off the beaten track.
I’m very sociable, so if I wasn’t an accountant, I’d do something in the tourism or hospitality sector. I’m also a keen power lifter and wild-water swimmer.
