The global challenge aims to bring together ACCA’s 700,000-plus community in walking, running or riding enough miles to reach around the world – or beyond – while raising money for the World Health Organization-led Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

‘We came up with the idea as a way to bring people around the world together at a time when we have been separated by the pandemic,’ says one of the event organisers, Belinda Young, from Singapore. ‘As well as supporting charity, we were keen to promote health and to unite members, students and staff in a spirit of fun and friendship. It is also a great way of underlining ACCA’s purpose: to be a force for public good.’

To take part, you will need to start by donating US$10 to the fund and then download the Strava app (you will need to create a Strava account if you don’t have one). Search for the ‘ACCA Global Run’ club and request to join. You will also need to complete the Google form. Then you can start walking, running, riding.

ACCA is also encouraging participants to post photos and videos with #ACCAGlobalRun.

‘It has been great hearing stories and seeing wonderful pictures from activities across the world,’ says ACCA Council member Liz Blackburn, ‘including from some who have been encouraged to put on their running shoes for the first time in years to take part.’
