A series of webinars on business adaptability, organised by ACCA Zambia for members and the broader business community, has attracted enthusiastic audiences since its launch in June. The aim of the series is to explore hot topics and discuss potential solutions from a Zambian perspective.
ACCA Zambia is activating ACCA’s global community to share views and experiences and explore the options for the Zambian and wider business environment. A diverse lineup of guest speakers has been mobilised to contribute to this thought-provoking series.
Adversity, continuity and chaos
So far, Patrick Mawire FCCA, partner at EY Zambia, has contributed a leader’s guide to managing in adversity. Chimango Chikwanda, head of the people function at Absa Bank in Zambia, has explored the talent management challenges raised by the Covid-19 pandemic in a speech on HR business continuity. And Martin Bamukunde FCCA and Andrew Sikwanda ACCA, respectively partner and senior manager at PwC Zambia, have spoken on the accounting implications of the pandemic.
As part of the series, ACCA Zambia also hosted South African serial entrepreneur Vusi Thembekwayo, CEO of pan-African impact investment firm MyGrowthFund Venture Capital.
‘It gave me hope that I can still plan ahead for my career despite the unprecedented times we are living through’
One of Africa’s most sought-after business speakers, Thembekwayo gave an inspiring talk on leading at the edge of chaos. It attracted a massive 672 registrations from 13 countries – Botswana, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, and even the US and Hong Kong.
Power to reassure
Thembekwayo’s effervescent presentation inspired a lively Q&A session and many positive comments. Kasalwe Bwalya, a young IT entrepreneur, said: ‘The webinar left me reassured that my business still stands a chance to survive in these times.’
Mebbie Chikwete ACCA, described Thembekwayo’s webinar as ‘mind-blowing and mindset-changing. It gave me hope that I can still plan ahead for my career despite the unprecedented times we are living through.’
Participants were awarded CPD certificates after attending the session, which will assist in achieving their CPD target at the end of the year.
Watch out for more ACCA Zambia webinars in the coming months. Speakers will include, among others: Jason Kazilimani FCCA, senior partner and CEO of KPMG Zambia; Humphrey Mulenga FCCA, CEO of Deloitte Zambia; and Lelemba Phiri, principal of Africa Trust Group.
