The inaugural scholarship in memory of ACCA’s first Nepalese member, Ummed Jain, who died in December 2020 aged 72, has been awarded to ACCA student Dikshya Lama.
Set up by Jain’s family, the scholarship is awarded annually to a woman ACCA student in Nepal and covers the costs of exams, tuition and subscription fees for a year.
Among the 65 applicants, Lama stood out for her dedication and long-term view of how her ACCA Qualification could help her to support her community.

Aim to inspire
A passionate ACCA member, Jain travelled to the UK in 1970 to study for the ACCA Qualification under a scholarship from the British Council. In 2006 he was the first recipient of the ACCA Achievement Award in recognition of his work to promote ACCA in Nepal.
His three children, all FCCAs, are proud that the scholarship in his name will inspire and support the next generation of finance professionals.
