Businesses are looking at how to reduce their emissions, including adapting their operations to use greener sources of energy. But although Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged that offshore wind farms will generate enough power for every home in the UK by 2030, will wind energy be able to meet UK business energy requirements?

There are around 8,600 onshore wind turbines and 2,300 offshore wind turbines currently in the UK, but given the amount of energy businesses require on average per year, more are needed to generate enough power to cover both domestic and commercial use.

This expansion is achievable, according to consultancy Smarter Business. ‘A significant part of the government’s targets to help lower the impact of climate change is based on finding more environmentally friendly sources of energy. With more investments in the efficiency and scale of wind farms to provide enough power for businesses, the future of the UK could be a much greener one.’
