I never planned to be an accountant, and I’m glad that the profession has changed now from solely number crunching to more advising and supporting businesses. This is what I am good at and love doing every day.

At Gains, we specialise in helping the food and beverage industry. Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on this sector. The biggest challenges are reviving businesses and building back consumer confidence to increase footfall.

Technology has given us the power to offer relevant, detailed and precise support to clients, and to get more involved in their businesses. We are at an advanced stage of our digital transformation – a fully digital (paperless) practice with a digital workflow for all our activities. My advice to those at the beginning of their digital journey would be to adopt technology as early as possible, but don’t overwhelm yourself with every new app and piece of software.

I am fearless and love challenges. However, doing a presentation on stage after 10 years was stepping out of my comfort zone. But I won’t let fear hold me back.

My biggest career achievement is learning a completely new and different industry (hospitality) to my own (accountancy) and gaining real-life experiences, despite not operating a business in that industry. I love helping business owners to overcome the real problems in their businesses on which their lives and achievement of goals depend.

Outside of work, I love books – something I cannot live without. Even just a five-minute read closes my day smoothly and clears my mind.
