ACCA and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) have renewed their successful strategic alliance following five years of partnership delivering significant value to members of both bodies.

The professional bodies formed the alliance in 2016 with the ambition of sharing resources and knowledge that would benefit members locally and globally.

Representing some 900,000 current and next-generation professional accountants across the world, the alliance also aims to deliver public value and strengthen the reach and relevance of both bodies.

Significant value

The two bodies have worked together to develop CPD resources, events, research and publications, and pooling knowledge to help members navigate challenges and opportunities, including through the pandemic.

‘By sharing our expertise, we’re creating a stronger voice for members'

Shared activities

Research: focuses on issues such as cybersecurity and robotics (from which CPD courses have also been developed), analytics, public trust in tax, and audit. More is planned this year.

Events: joint events have showcased the research above, as well as issues such as careers and the role of the accountancy profession.

Office space: CA ANZ’s London team works at ACCA’s Adelphi headquarters, while the ACCA team works in CA ANZ’s Sydney headquarters. CA ANZ employees in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia share offices with ACCA.

‘I’m delighted at the success of the strategic alliance and the bonds that have been forged,’ said Helen Brand, ACCA chief executive. ‘By sharing expertise, information and experience, we’re creating a stronger voice for members and raising the profile of both bodies.

‘We prize our friendship and professional links with our CA ANZ colleagues enormously, and I’m looking forward to working with them to bring even more value to our members in future.’

Shaping the future

Ainslie van Onselen, chief executive of CA ANZ, said: ‘ ‘Our partnership goes from strength to strength, with members at the heart of everything we do. Not only have members been able to extend their global reach, our cutting-edge resources and research is equipping them to make a difference with their clients, businesses and communities.

‘Together, we are helping to shape the future of the accounting profession while being grounded in our shared commitment to maintain and promote ethics and integrity. Our collective voice is critical to ensuring that the trust our profession has in the community continues to grow.’

The alliance also features an agreement on reciprocal membership allowing eligible ACCA members residing in Australia and New Zealand to join CA ANZ, which has also been extended as part of the renewal.
