I studied corporate finance at the Academy of Finance in Hanoi. After graduating, I started my career journey by joining an audit firm, Nexia. I then spent several years as a business controller and tax manager at Heineken Vietnam and a short period back at Nexia, before joining my current company, VinSmart. Alongside this, since 2019 I’ve been a lecturer on taxation for ACCA papers.

I think the finance sector is one of the most forward-thinking industries in the world. It’s exciting, challenging and fast paced. In addition, there are always opportunities to grow.

Currently, I am CFO of VinSmart Research & Manufacture Joint Stock Company, a member of Vingroup Joint Stock Company – one of the biggest wholly owned conglomerates in Vietnam. I enjoy maintaining a fast pace of work; the working environment here helps us to innovate at work every day.

I bring professional qualities to my role, and encourage ethical behaviour and decision-making throughout the organisation to ensure sustainable value creation.

Vietnam is one of the fastest growing markets in South-East Asia, mostly driven by manufacturing, exports and an expanding middle-class. Vietnamese consumer trends and business opportunities are changing rapidly, with many positive signals that are especially obvious in economic and income indices.

Vietnam’s e-commerce sector is developing at a rapid pace, and relevant laws and regulations have been improved accordingly. The country has continuously recorded strong growth in terms of the rate of internet users and the number of online shoppers and purchase value. In particular, the Covid-19 pandemic has created new consumer behaviour, triggering exponential growth in e-commerce and spurring on many smaller retailers to get in the game by establishing their own online offerings.

My father has inspired me along my career path. He advises and supports me at any time in anything I do. I also have the full support of my family when I am busy at work. I have two sons who make me feel so happy when I get home.

My career aspirations are to be a good financial gatekeeper for my company, while growing my contribution to strategic and operational decision-making in a business partnering capacity. Outside of business, being a good parent is something I have always aspired to.

If I weren’t a finance professional, I think I would be a leader in a social enterprise to support women in difficult economic areas.
