During my university years, I learned the importance of accounting in everyday life and all types of business around the world. The idea of being a qualified accountant was fascinating to me; it equips you with financial and business acumen, as well as a problem-solving skills that could take you anywhere.

I am currently an assistant manager in the audit team at PwC Singapore. As an auditor in PwC, I am exposed to a wide range of industries worldwide and I enjoy meeting new people, engaging new clients and working across different teams. I help to promote transparent financial reporting, which is an important responsibility of an auditor in maintaining our global economic system. It is a job I take pride in and I never get bored of my work in audit!

If I had to pick my biggest career influence, it would be my family. When I was young, I witnessed how difficult it was for my parents to support our family of six. To me, a job in accounting is stable, so I was determined to study hard from a young age to build a career in this field and earn a steady income to help ease my family’s financial burden.

'The skills I have attained have empowered me as well as enable my career growth'

I appreciate that my jobs allows me to have flexi-work arrangements. This has helped me achieve a good work-life balance, especially since I started a family of my own.

I’m proud that I have attained ACCA membership and also qualified as a Chartered Accountant of Singapore. Attaining these qualifications required a lot of commitment and focus, so balancing work, life and other commitments was not an easy task. These certifications serve as a reminder of my hard work over the years, the perseverance and tenacity that I am capable of, and it goes without saying that the skills I have attained have empowered me as well as enable my career growth.

If I weren’t an accountant, I would be a pilot. As a child, I thought that being a pilot would be interesting as you can see the world. However, being an auditor in PwC Singapore has allowed me to see the world in a different way because of its global network, which I am very grateful for. I aspire to remain in the accountancy field and continue to broaden and enhance my knowledge through ongoing exposure to new challenges and people.
