I jumped into finance and accounting by starting my ACCA journey when I was 19. A well-known accounting and finance teacher lived in our apartment building and he believed I could become a well-qualified finance professional, so he encouraged me to attend accounting classes. He was my very first accounting teacher and played a vital role in my professional journey.

I find finance and accounting so interesting – the fact they’re applicable in our day-to-day lives. This really piqued my interest and inspired me to attend classes and take exams until I’d achieved the ACCA Qualification.

The thing I like most about my working environment is that it prioritises integrity

As part of corporate governance and risk management, a robust and effective internal control system is essential. My role as internal control manager at Coca-Cola Pinya Beverages Myanmar is to monitor this system and ensure it is operated effectively. I also assess that the system and practices are fit and reflect the current environment, and if needed, provide recommendations to take remedial action. I really enjoy the monitoring aspect of my role.

It’s so motivating to be able to use all the knowledge and experience learnt from ACCA, as it is to constantly develop my professional skills and technical knowledge. The thing I like most about my working environment is that it prioritises integrity, and I’m able to take part in and initiate activities that encourage diversity, inclusion and equity.

Along my career path, my parents and teachers have greatly encouraged and influenced me to complete my ACCA journey. Without them, I couldn’t have achieved the qualification. My mum especially has always inspired me to be committed and to have a ‘never give up’ attitude. She also taught me to focus on my targets, to always try my best, to not let anything distract me and to focus on achieving my career goals.

The world is changing rapidly and we finance professionals need to think ahead. We have a responsibility to upgrade our skills and knowledge to meet changing needs. I am determined to finish my master’s degree in professional accountancy in 2023, which is sure to boost my professional capability.

Throughout my ACCA journey, I never failed an exam – I passed them all at first attempt. Now I have the qualification, it’s one of my biggest achievements. Being a manager at one of the world’s biggest brands is another. I feel very proud to be part of the well-known beverage company and contributing to its commitment of ‘refreshing the world and making a difference while building a more sustainable future for the planet’.

If I weren’t a finance professional, I’d perhaps be a singer. I love music and entertainment, and would like to set up a company to entertain the world by creating great art.
