We often look to the world of sport for the greatest mass-participation events, such as the Olympic Games or the FIFA World Cup. However, when it comes to our profession, our Accounting for the Future conference is hard to beat for its global appeal.
Last year’s event drew more than 20,000 participants from 186 countries – greater even than the number of countries where ACCA members live. It’s an astonishing display of engagement and universal dedication to accountancy.
This year’s event, on 29 November to 2 December includes 15 sessions featuring experts and fascinating panel discussions. The agenda centres around the theme, ‘Accounting for a better world’, focusing on the skills needed to survive and thrive in a fast-evolving business environment.
It’s a major event in the ACCA calendar, a golden opportunity to join fellow professionals for practical and enjoyable (and free) CPD learning and development, and an unmissable opportunity to stay up to date with the tools and knowledge you need to ensure your career and your business can flourish in troubling times.
There’s not enough space here to describe the whole agenda, but I can promise an array of options for everyone, no matter your country or sector. The list includes sessions on:

- green finance skills
- sustainability reporting and assurance
- supporting businesses and clients in an economic downturn
- soft skills such as how to be a compassionate leader, and how to persuade and influence
- professional accountants’ skills in managing risk
- managing SME and SMP talent in tough recruitment markets
- global mobility, tax, skills and regulation in a flexible new world.
There are also short-form ‘lightning sessions’, plus a range of event features that will help bring us together and facilitate our virtual, and vital, networking.
