Our interviewee this month, Kennedy Kaposa FCCA swapped the ‘hot politics’ of the Office of the Public Protector South Africa to become CFO of Ditsong Museums, an organisation that oversees some of the country’s most significant heritage institutions. He talks about the challenges facing this underfunded sector and why he is passionate about making a lasting contribution.

Born in Nigeria, Fred Alale FCCA found his niche across the world in Australia, where after a rich and varied career he is now director of financial systems and projects in the Department of Education in Victoria State Government. Appointed Member (AM) of the Order of Australia earlier this year for his significant contribution to the African communities in Victoria, he explains why giving back means so much to him.
While there has been considerable talk of the effects of climate change on African countries, a key piece of research from ACCA, published in June, explains how sustainable organisations must balance social equity with environmental action. A failure to grasp this premise, it says, will marginalise the contribution that the profession should make to a just transition to a sustainable future.
