ACCA Hong Kong’s Community Day took place in February – for the first time in physical format since the Covid-19 pandemic. Themed ‘25 Years of Love and Care. Run Ahead to a Better Future’, this year’s event raised around HK$1.1m for local charities.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan was the guest of honour as more than 300 representatives from accountancy firms, multinational companies, local organisations and institutions took part in a range of activities, culminating in the legendary rickshaw race, won this year by EY FSO. ‘I am glad to be back to this familiar place,’ said Chan, who is also the founder of the event, which, since its inception in 1997, has generated over HK$23m.

‘In the post-pandemic era, ACCA’s social responsibility becomes more important than ever’

Spirit of love and care

The proceeds from this year’s Community Day will be shared between three local charities: Act Plus Education Foundation’s ‘Stop-Motion Journey of Star-Child’ project, which aims to assist children with autism and learning disabilities; Healthy Hong Kong’s Healing With Love Chinese Medicine Services Scheme, which provides free treatment to low-income groups; and Joyful (Mental Health) Foundation’s Wellbeing Online Project.

‘We are glad that the ACCA Community Day is able to return in physical format this year and we hope to continue promoting the spirit of love and care to society,’ said Winnie Ki, ACCA Hong Kong chairman. ‘As a global professional body, ACCA is committed to nurturing accounting and finance talents and supporting our members to overcome challenges and explore new opportunities in their careers. In the post-pandemic era, ACCA’s social responsibility becomes more important than ever.

‘Together, we can run ahead to a better future by contributing to the sustainable development of society.’
