Marriott International’s customer engagement centres provide global support for its Bonvoy loyalty programme members and hotel guests. As senior manager, I’m responsible for financial and management reporting support for 15 of our global teams, including budgeting and forecasting. I’m also responsible for financial oversight of some of our programmes.
What I love most about what I do is developing and cultivating relationships with stakeholders across our business. Having strong relationships helps me gather insights from various sources; combined with financial analysis, this enables me to better support decision-making and drive positive outcomes for both associates and customers (beyond just the numbers).
I’m hopeful AI will help us truly partner with business operations to find untapped potential
A key area of opportunity for the accounting and finance profession is undoubtedly the use of AI. I think it will help to drive efficiencies, enhance reporting and visualisations, but I don’t think it will replace the accounting function of a business. I’m hopeful that by incorporating AI and machine learning into accounting, we’ll see greater opportunities for accountants to truly partner with business operations in overlooked areas and find untapped potentials.
The most important business lesson I have learned in my career is to be adaptable and open to change. How we approach change is very much about our attitude towards it, and that is definitely something we can work on enhancing over time.
I’m excited for the Leaders of Tomorrow opportunity to share and gain insights
ACCA has been invaluable in my career, offering a solid foundation in financial principles and ethical practices. ACCA’s commitment to continuous learning keeps my skills updated and is integral to my professional growth. Being a member and staying engaged with the network also facilitates valuable connections and knowledge exchange.
ACCA membership also provided me with the opportunity to apply to the Leaders of Tomorrow programme. I’m excited to work with my peers across Europe through this programme and for the opportunity to share and gain insights with this new network.
To get away from it all I like to spend time with my son and my partner. We’re lucky enough to live close to the coast and like to take a walk on the beach or the Ardmore cliff walk. I also enjoy good food and entertaining, whether that’s at home or visiting one of the many wonderful restaurants in Cork. Working for a travel company, I also enjoy travelling. My favourite type of trip is a city break.
