My parents are both economists and I feel this profession is in my DNA. I had the chance to study at university and to learn from my father, who owns a small accounting firm. I was a partner in the firm for a while and it was there that I gained a lot of experience working with different local businesses, and managing their financial reports and taxes.
In 2008, I decided to join a multinational business and became part of Agri Bulgaria and Ferrero Group. Since then, I have been promoted internally from an accountant to head of accountancy department, budget and control and finally financial manager and CFO.
I am part of a huge business that has given me so much knowledge but as an ACCA member I bring value back to my organisation
I stepped out of my comfort zone when taking the most difficult decision of my life and leaving my father’s business to continue my professional path alone. From a professional standpoint, I have never regretted it as I am part of a huge business that has given me so much knowledge, which I could never have reached by staying in a small business. But as an ACCA member I bring value back to my organisation
I enjoy my job as I’m happy to work for a fast-growing company like Ferrero. My job is never boring as I learn every day from the best professionals. Growing internally gives me a sense of togetherness and boosts my motivation. Looking back, I see how far I have come but also how many more challenges await me.
For me success is much more of a never-ending process. Rather than listing one achievement, I prefer to think of my professional career as a journey. It has shaped me as a person and helped me to become stronger and wiser. I take pride in my dedicated team and in my continuous hunger for knowledge.
Despite being an EU member since 2007, Bulgaria still faces difficulties with a high level of corruption, which is a fundamental obstacle to growth. The transition to the Eurozone is crucial, but the readiness of the country and businesses is concerning. Another huge challenge is to address the social and economic effects of the transition of the European Green Deal, and properly support the industries and workers who will face the greatest issues.
There are many other challenges, such as the unstable political situation and high inflation, but these are also common across the EU. However, in turbulent times there are also many opportunities for growth. I consider human capital as the main pillar for Bulgaria’s future development, while increasing the local production capacity in both industrial and agricultural sectors is also critical to the country’s stability and prosperity. I believe in the great potential of people’s natural innovative thinking.
There are many opportunities if we support our small enterprises. I believe in the great potential of people’s natural innovative thinking
If I had law-making powers, I would focus on improving SME legislation. I believe in the great potential of people’s innovative thinking. There are many opportunities if we support our small enterprises, reduce the administrative burden placed on them, and enhance the innovation brought by the next generation.
If I wasn’t in finance I would be into computer science, as I’m devoted to process automation, standardisation and optimisation. I had the opportunity to manage several financial projects related to customised software solutions and we achieved exceptional results.
My favourite quote comes from the Indian mystic Osho: ‘Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior, but nobody is equal either.’ People are simply unique and incomparable. This quote always makes me calm, positive and respectful. There is no need of competing with anyone because your uniqueness is what makes you special and valuable for society. The only meaningful competition is with yourself which reminds me of another saying: ‘Change is inevitable, growth is optional’. So, I welcome change and focus on growth.
I spent over 20 years playing chess at national and international level. Therefore, I have learnt to concentrate and work under huge pressure, and now these are my biggest strengths. I still watch tournaments online.
I also love the arts, especially painting and making ceramics. This was a childhood dream, and I have picked it back up. It brings me endless joy and inspiration. I see the world in richer and brighter colours, and by developing my creativity, I improve my innovative thinking too.
