Summer means sporting events in abundance. Not only is Wimbledon gracing our screens this month, excitement over the Euros continues – even if England and Scotland’s progress through the football tournament doesn’t. Read about how UEFA is striving to make Euro 2024 the greenest event ever – plus other financials. We also look at the LPGA 2024 tour, including how KPMG’s sponsorship of the golfing events is driving change for women on and off the course.

Our main interview this month is with Susanne Swaniker-Tettey FCCA, who has relocated from Botswana to the UK to be global financial controller of De Beers Group. Despite Anglo American’s recent announcement of its intention to sell off its diamond business as part of a major restructuring, Susanne is optimistic about the future.

In other news, we look at the new global ethical framework from the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, which will require tax accountants to consider the wider implications of their advice; and an ACCA report on the importance of sustainability reporting by SMEs.

Also in June we published AB’s latest special edition, which focuses on the best routes into sought-after roles in particular niche industries. Hear advice from ACCA members who might inspire you to try something new. From fashion startups to social networks for gamers, your career pivot might just start here.

Finally, ACCA is celebrating the milestone of welcoming its 250,000th member this year. Explore this specially created map of all things ACCA!
