Chef and author Nadiya Hussain, 2015 winner, has an estimated wealth of £5m

As the next season of the nation’s darling, The Great British Bake Off, kicks off, we can see that winning the show will earn you a following, if not untold riches.

According to Bonusetu.com, Nancy Birtwhistle, winner of season five in 2014, earns the most on social media, making £2,052 per Instagram post. She also boasts 828,000 followers – just behind Nadiya Hussain (2015) – and a strong engagement rate of 1.55%.

Birtwhistle has also achieved considerable success with five lifestyle books covering baking, cleaning and gardening. She frequently appears on This Morning, where she shares her expertise on living a green lifestyle.

Last year’s winner, Matty Edgell, left his PE and science teaching job to focus on baking full-time. He now collaborates with brands including Carnation and Nestlé on social media campaigns, and has plans to write a book, pursue more TV opportunities, and build his own cake business.

But the most famous and most followed winner, Nadiya Hussain, has been a television chef since her 2015 victory, published six cookbooks as well as children’s novels and picture books, and writes a monthly column in The Times. Her net wealth is estimated to be around £5m.
