I joined KPMG Mauritius as a trainee auditor through a university campus recruitment campaign. Remarkably, I began my professional journey with the firm even before completing my degree.

I started my career in audit, where I built a strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting and risk assessment. From my earliest roles, I gained exposure to diverse industries, honed my technical expertise, and developed the ability to manage client relationships and lead teams. This grounding provided the platform for my progression into senior management.

A key career achievement has been my various secondments to KPMG in South Africa, the US and Germany. I developed a wide range of skills during these experiences, including advanced technical accounting, designing and implementing new audit tools, and enhancing audit methodologies, all of which have significantly strengthened my professional expertise and impact. Building on this global experience, my recent move to Australia represents another pivotal milestone in my career, allowing me to apply my international expertise in a new market while continuing to grow as a leader and professional.

I’m not just signing off on compliance; I’m helping shape the future of assurance

I see my role as a senior manager in audit at KPMG in Brisbane as driving impact for both the firm and our clients. The challenges I navigate are balancing audit quality with commercial pressures, retaining and inspiring teams, and embedding technology and environmental, social and governance into our work. I try to push KPMG forward – championing data-driven audits, mentoring and developing our people, and expanding into areas like sustainability assurance. For clients, I help them achieve their business goals by delivering trusted assurance, insights into risk and governance, and practical solutions that strengthen confidence in their financial and non-financial reporting. What excites me is that I’m not just signing off on compliance; I’m helping shape the future of assurance, building client trust and enabling KPMG to remain a leader in a changing professional services landscape.

Dancing is creative, disciplined and challenging, much like my work in accounting

Earning the ACCA qualification has been one of the most valuable investments in my career. It gave me a solid foundation in accounting, audit and financial management that I continue to rely on daily. Beyond the technical skills, ACCA’s strong emphasis on ethics and professional judgment shaped how I approach complex decisions with integrity and confidence. What I’ve found equally powerful is the global network that comes with being part of ACCA. Connecting with other professionals around the world has also broadened my perspective, helped me benchmark best practices and reinforced that I’m part of a community that shares a commitment to excellence. Looking back, ACCA has not only supported my career progression but also given me the confidence and credibility to build strong relationships with clients, lead teams effectively, and contribute meaningfully to both my firm’s and my clients’ goals.

If I weren’t an accountant, I’d be a professional dancer. I’ve always loved dancing; it’s creative, disciplined and challenging, much like my work in accounting. It’s a different way of expressing focus and dedication, which I enjoy in both my career and personal life.
