I met my partner at my first job, at EY Sri Lanka. Both of us are ACCA members, and we consistently collaborate and share our knowledge and skills. My husband has helped me explore career paths within accounting and finance.

I was an audit trainee at EY. It helped me understand business operations and the diverse job roles in the finance sector, but it was after I joined a private organisation in Sri Lanka as a project management executive that I realised the ACCA qualification is not solely applicable to accounting and finance-related positions. As a member of the project management team, I contributed to the organisation’s transformation journey, which made a meaningful impact on business operations and personnel.

I focused on creating memorable experiences and migrating to Australia

I took a career break for my wedding. I focused on creating memorable experiences and spending quality time with my family. I also migrated to Australia, securing a position with PwC Australia as a consultant on its transformation assurance team. It brought me valuable transformation project experience, including managing risks, engaging stakeholders, measuring performance, supporting change management, advising on best practices, ensuring compliance and driving process improvements.

Today I work in the property management industry. Moving from a Big Four firm to a corporate environment was initially challenging. However, my interest in the field grew steadily, and I found myself enjoying my role and learning new skills day by day. I’m currently an assistant property manager at Cygnet West, a commercial real estate agency in Western Australia. I manage a diverse clientele and assist them in effectively managing their businesses within the commercial environment.

If I weren’t an accountant, I’d have been a pilot. I’m passionate about exploring different countries.
