ACCA has launched My ACCA Sustainability Hour, an initiative for school children in Nigeria that aims to equip future generations with the knowledge, skills and values to address complex global challenges like poverty, climate change and inequality – key elements of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
With the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2025 highlighting that only 35% of SDG targets are on track or making moderate progress, with nearly half moving too slowly and 18% in reverse, it’s a timely intervention.
So far, 200 Nigerian schools have signed up to the programme, which introduces students to sustainability through six monthly modules, each reflecting a specific UN Sustainable Development Goal. The topics are climate action, water management, waste management, energy management, poverty and hunger.
Mainly targeting students from ages 10–16, the programme is designed to be scalable and adaptable for global implementation, and will foster global citizenship, critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
