I love how finance plays a critical role in my work environment. We’re not just reporting numbers and keeping track of performance – we provide insights, identify efficiencies and help prioritise investments. Finance helps ensure that every decision supports Henkel’s long-term growth and ESG commitments, especially in a sector where sustainability and innovation are key to staying ahead. I find it inspiring to see how numbers can turn into strategies that push business forward in such an innovative sector.
Here in Indonesia, Henkel focuses solely on its adhesives business – a dynamic and fast-moving sector. Adhesives may not always be visible to the end consumer, but they’re essential in so many industries – from automotive to electronics to packaging. This means the business is constantly evolving with innovation, sustainability and customer needs.
Finance can play a role in enabling initiatives that have a real community impact
I studied for my ACCA qualification at the London School of Accountancy and Finance (LSAF) in Indonesia. It wasn’t easy. I had to adapt and learn accounting from the ground up, but I made it. I was then given the opportunity to serve as academic progression coordinator and lecturer at LSAF for a year, before moving into industry as a junior financial analyst here at Henkel. Two years later, at the end of 2024, I was promoted to senior accountant.
In my very first year at the company, I led a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project that became a highlight of my career to date. We collaborated with an NGO that develops AI for education, supporting them financially to expand their work. The NGO had created a chatbot that served as a free study companion for students. This wasn’t easy – I was still new, still learning the ropes, and suddenly leading something that connected directly to Henkel’s ESG priorities.
That CSR project taught me a lot about responsibility and adaptability, and how finance can play a role in enabling initiatives that have a real community impact. I was honoured with Henkel’s Global Finance Project Award. More than the recognition itself, it reinforced a belief that finance is not just about business results, but also about enabling change and making a difference.
Connections have opened doors, given me guidance, and shaped my career path in a way I couldn’t have achieved alone
ACCA has been extremely valuable to me, not only for the knowledge it’s given me, but also the connections. What I learned from the ACCA qualification went far beyond theory; it gave me practical skills that I could apply directly in my work. On top of that, the ACCA network has been a huge advantage. Even as a student, I was able to connect with professionals across different levels, including senior management. In fact, I received the job opportunity at Henkel through that very network. Those connections have opened doors, given me guidance, and shaped my career path in a way I couldn’t have achieved alone.
If I weren’t an accountant, I’d be a singer. Music has always been my passion, and singing every week in my church community reminds me of the joy and connection it brings. I also aspire to be an entrepreneur, as I’ve always liked the idea of starting a business. In the end, whether through numbers or music, what matters most is the same – connecting with people and creating something meaningful.
