To me, accounting is more than dealing with numbers. It is about integrity and making informed decisions that drive positive change. I love discovering the story behind the numbers and I particularly enjoy the analytical and problem-solving aspects of my work.

Coming from a humble background, with limited financial resources, I was uncertain about which career to pursue. However, I always had a clear goal: to build a promising and stable future. My elder brother, who was an accountant and also an FCCA, played a crucial role in guiding me and shaping that vision.

I have spent most of my career working at Morison (Mauritius), a firm which has been central to my professional growth and personal development. My time here has shaped my perspective on leadership, teamwork and commitment, and working in such a supportive environment has been key to allowing me to grow. My focus now as managing partner is on audit, accounting and financial reporting, with most of my day spent reviewing client files, preparing reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Remaining with one firm has enabled me to contribute consistently to its success

Over many years I have built strong relationships with my clients and taken on increasing levels of responsibility. Remaining with one firm has enabled me to contribute consistently to its success while sharpening my leadership abilities.

However, teamwork has been a fundamental pillar of my professional development. Tight deadlines, high pressure and demanding assignments have tested my resilience, but they have also strengthened my commitment. Looking back, Morison (Mauritius) has given me expertise, a strong sense of identity and lifelong friendships that inspire and guide me every day.

Mauritius is one of Africa’s most stable and business-friendly nations. With its strategic location, strong governance framework, and role as a regional hub for trade, it has a lot to offer potential investors. However, it faces challenges due to a slow regulatory framework, a depreciating currency, high import dependency and, to date, limited focus on sustainability.

My favourite quote come from Steve Jobs: ‘The only way to do great work is to love what you do.’ This guides me each day and inspires me to lead with passion.

I have a strong a desire to serve and protect my country

Technology is transforming our profession. AI now makes the audit process much faster and more accurate, automating repetitive tasks like data entry and document review. The key will be to balance innovation with human judgment and ethics, ensuring that technology serves as enabler, not a replacement.

If I had law-making powers, I would protect the under 16s from social-media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat. This would help them to refocus on education, sports and family life. I would also legislate against fake news, ensuring a safer and more positive digital space for all.

If I wasn’t an accountant, I would have chosen a career in the army. I have a strong a desire to serve and protect my country, and the army would suit my professional discipline, resilience and sense of duty.

In my own time, I enjoy participating in religious and cultural activities including singing in temples. Cooking is another passion, as it is a therapeutic way to share joy with loved ones. I also like reading philosophical books, which deepens my understanding of life and nurtures independent thinking.
