Business is really about people. As managing director, I look after the overall direction of the firm, but relationships are at the heart of everything I do. If you look after your team and your clients and do the right thing by them, everything else tends to fall into place and success takes care of itself. I’m a firm believer in picking up the phone to solve an issue, rather than sending endless emails back and forth.

New tech helps us work faster and give clients more up-to-date info
We recently gained approved employer status with ACCA. It’s a great recognition of the standards we’ve built and the way we develop our people. It also helps us attract and grow talented finance professionals who want a clear and supported career path.
One of the biggest opportunities for us is how AI is changing the way accountancy and payroll work gets done. Being able to automate a lot of the processing side of things can create huge efficiencies for both us and our clients. We’re always keeping an eye out for new features and the latest software integrations that can be synced and automated. They help us work faster, cut down on manual work and give clients more up-to-date and accurate information.
Across the industries we serve, there is an uptick in merger and acquisition activity. We’re currently working closely with clients to make sure they’re in a strong financial position if the right opportunity to buy or sell comes along.
For me, 2026 will be about becoming a better leader. Key to this is keeping up with how fast the profession is changing, and focusing more on putting myself out there. That means learning more about technology, advisory work and the role of social media.
One of the ways in which I switch off is through basketball. People don’t always expect this given that I’m only 5’ 10” … or really 5’ 8”. It’s a great way to clear the head and keep active.
