Living in Hong Kong is like being surrounded by the energy of finance. Growing up here sparked my curiosity and inspired me to explore how businesses operate behind the scenes. I’m fascinated by how finance connects people, ideas, opportunities and growth.
My journey began with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy, but the game-changer was an internship with a CPA firm. I’ll never forget my first audit trips to Shanghai and Beijing, and dealing with clients in France and Germany. Engaging with clients across various cultures gave me invaluable exposure and revealed that accounting is far more than numbers. It broadened my vision and solidified my career path, ultimately leading me to join a Big Four firm, where I received comprehensive training and worked on statutory audits of listed companies.
What excites me most is seeing how finance can act as a catalyst
At PKF Hong Kong, my role goes beyond delivering audits; it’s about empowering teams and clients to thrive in a constantly evolving environment. I lead engagements across diverse sectors, ensuring quality and compliance while tailoring practical solutions to client needs. A key challenge is keeping pace with regulatory and technological change, which requires us to be agile and forward-thinking. What I enjoy most is mentoring staff and seeing how our work helps clients achieve their goals.
The most significant trends we face are rapid digital transformation, regulatory tightening and the growing demand for environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainability reporting. These are not merely technical challenges; they reshape how businesses operate and how trust is built with stakeholders. We view them as opportunities to align our clients’ compliance needs with their growth ambitions. By investing in AI and data analytics, we’re enhancing the quality and efficiency of our audits, while our expanding ESG advisory helps clients turn sustainability into a strategic advantage. What excites me most is seeing how finance can act as a catalyst, not only safeguarding integrity but also enabling businesses to innovate, adapt and thrive in a fast-changing environment.
I’ve always been interested in how organisations safeguard integrity and resilience
ACCA provided me with a rigorous grounding in accounting and audit standards, while its global recognition opened doors to diverse opportunities. The qualification has been a powerful tool in globalising my professional profile, immediately strengthening my credibility on the international stage, which is crucial when serving clients with crossborder interests. Equally important is the professional network; being part of a worldwide community of professionals has enabled me to exchange insights, stay updated on industry developments and build meaningful relationships that continue to enrich my career.
If I weren’t an accountant, I’d likely have pursued a career in compliance and risk management. I’ve always been interested in how organisations safeguard integrity and resilience, while achieving business goals. This path would have allowed me to apply my analytical and communication skills to help businesses translate complex risks into clear strategies and build stakeholder confidence.
