An interest in numbers, problem-solving and understanding how businesses work led me to accountancy. Early exposure to finance showed me how strong financial controls drive sustainable growth. My career journey began with Deloitte, followed by roles in assurance, finance and internal audit in Qatar and Saudi Arabia for several holding groups. I have now worked across multiple industries, gaining experience in governance, risk management and strategic financial oversight.
I see many opportunities in AI. At the operational level, AI will streamline and automate many core finance processes, which will allow finance professionals to concentrate on higher-value strategic and advisory roles. Advanced AI-driven analytics will enhance data accuracy, provide real-time insights, and strengthen risk identification and management. AI will also allow for faster, more informed decision-making across organisations, ultimately driving greater efficiency, productivity and sustainable value creation at both the organisational and economic level.
The pandemic pushed me outside of my comfort zone. The challenge was not only surviving medically but also sustaining my work and career growth. Private businesses across the region faced severe uncertainty, many struggling to remain operational. I was pushed to adapt and learn quickly while adjusting to the new realities. Despite the difficulties, government support in Qatar helped the private sector recover. This period strengthened my resilience, mindset and flexibility.
I believe a peaceful mind leads to wiser actions and a more meaningful life
‘Wisdom begins where ego ends; listen deeply, think clearly and decide with purpose’ is my favourite mantra. It reminds me that real wisdom comes from humility: letting go of ego, listening with an open heart and seeing life with clarity. It encourages calm thinking and thoughtful choices, especially during moments of uncertainty. I believe a peaceful mind leads to wiser actions and a more meaningful life.
What I enjoy most about my job is the exposure it gives me, both geographically and professionally. Working for a regional group of companies allows me to travel, experience different business environments and engage with multiple industries rather than being confined to one sector. Being based in a region with diverse nationalities makes the experience even richer, as I get to collaborate with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I also value the trust that senior leadership places in me when dealing with critical issues.
My biggest achievement is the person I have become over the years. My journey, from an ambitious student to a qualified member of three professional bodies, and from a trainee to a senior management professional, reflects many years of dedication. I’m also proud of the significant value I’ve added to the teams and organisations I’ve worked with.
I would declare an educational emergency to prioritise literacy and equal opportunities for every child
If I had law‑making powers, I would focus on educational reform. I would redesign the curriculum to make learning more relevant, practical, AI‑driven and future‑oriented. I would enforce strict standards and quality training programmes for teachers to enhance teaching quality nationwide. I would also declare an educational emergency to prioritise literacy and equal opportunities for every child. National progress depends on modern and competitive education.
If I weren’t a qualified finance professional, I always imagined myself joining the army. I’m inspired by discipline and service. As a child I was also interested in being an engineer, because I loved understanding how things worked. Over time, I moved toward finance and that passion shaped the career I ultimately chose.
