Over more than 20 years in audit, accounting and finance, I’ve built my career across leading local and multinational organisations, including Protiviti, KPMG, FedEx and now Americold, helping shape internal audit, risk and control environments across diverse regions. The majority of my journey has been in internal audit, a field where I’ve found both purpose and impact through strengthening governance and supporting strategic decision‑making.

My inspiration came early from my uncle, a chartered accountant and auditor, whose structured and investigative approach left a deep impression on me. His blend of curiosity, discipline and clarity sparked my interest in the profession and continues to shape how I work today.

Temperature‑controlled logistics faces increasing pressure from rising operating costs, customer expectations for speed and visibility and the need to maintain strict product‑integrity standards. Cold‑chain operations must be safe, compliant and resilient while adapting to evolving risks.

AI will have a transformative impact on cold-chain logistics

Internal Audit supports Americold by providing an independent view of risks across the business. We focus on ensuring key processes and controls operate effectively from inventory handling to billing, so revenue integrity is protected and operations run consistently. We also support teams through system and process changes, helping embed strong controls early. Health and safety remains a fundamental pillar of our work, ensuring our people, sites and products remain protected.

AI will have a transformative impact on cold-chain logistics. With product integrity and timing being critical, AI can strengthen predictive capabilities from identifying temperature‑related risks to anticipating equipment issues before they escalate. It will also enhance operational visibility by bringing together real‑time data across warehouses, transportation and monitoring systems.

AI will help optimise process efficiency through smarter routing, improved inventory management, safety analytics and automated compliance. Importantly, AI will not replace people, it will augment them. The real value lies in supporting our workforce with better information, allowing them to focus on judgement, decision‑making and solving complex challenges. For Americold, AI ultimately strengthens reliability, safety and service quality across the cold chain.

My favourite saying is: ‘Hard times refine us, not define us’. This mantra has stayed with me throughout my career. It resonates with the belief that everyone is on their own journey — and that the challenges we face shape our character rather than limit our potential.

If I had law-making powers, I would push for laws that make quality childcare and education more accessible and affordable for everyone. In short, less strain on families, more opportunity for kids and a society that invests in the future where it matters most.

What I enjoy about my job is the people. My role allows me to meet colleagues across different cultures and countries, and the travel element adds a dimension I truly value. Every interaction offers new perspectives and reinforces that organisations are ultimately shaped by the people within them. Building relationships and learning from diverse experiences is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

What matters most to me is being relied on as a partner who adds value

My biggest achievement has been the journey itself, growing into a role where I can positively influence people, build trust across cultures and bring clarity to complex situations. What matters most to me is being relied on as a partner who adds value with guidance and perspective. Reaching this point through resilience, patience and continuous learning reflects not just what I’ve achieved, but who I’ve become.

If I were not a qualified accountant, I would have pursued cricket. I played club‑level cricket when I was younger, and had it not been for an injury that forced me to reconsider my path, I would have loved to explore it professionally. The experience taught me discipline, teamwork and resilience – qualities that still shape me today.

In my own time, I enjoy travelling and discovering new places. However, lately much of my time goes into my children’s activities. I recently began attending my son’s basketball games and was soon asked to help coach the team. I’m not a basketball expert, so I support as the assistant coach, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of something that brings them joy.
