I have always loved numbers, and the rigour and clarity that they bring to my life. This started in high school and continued at university, where I took a bachelor’s degree in finance and then a master’s degree in taxation.
I started my career in audit at BDO, before moving to Ness Digital Engineering as financial controller. This is where I took my ACCA qualification, starting the course thanks to a supportive manager. It was a challenge trying to balance a full-time job with studying, but it eventually paid off.
Like two sides of a coin, AI can be both a blessing and a curse for the corporate world. It is great for automating repetitive tasks that boost productivity and creative thinking by giving accountants more time. The reverse is that without proper oversight of AI agents, companies can be damaged as a result.
I first stepped out of my comfort zone at university, as a work and travel student. I was just out of my small hometown, and alone I took my first ever flight, going straight to New York. Finding myself in a foreign country, so far from home, was really tough. However, I faced all the challenges head on, which made me very proud. That time in my life greatly increased my confidence.
This is my favourite mantra, which has guided me through my life: ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.’ I think about this often and it has never failed me. Whether at work or in my personal life, I try to put in my best effort.
What I enjoy most about my job is the predictability that it brings. I know what is expected of me, the timelines and the deliverables, and it also allows me to work towards my career goals and personal targets.

I think my biggest achievement is gaining my ACCA qualification while working full time. I didn’t fail any exam and received the highest scores in Romania for four of the papers I took. I am very proud to have accomplished this, especially as I was never a straight-A student.
If I had law-making powers, I would create a legal framework that ensures no one is disadvantaged because of their identity or the circumstances they were born into.
If I wasn’t an accountant I would have liked to go into my other favourite thing, which is sports. I was a professional handball player until I was 20, so a career in sport would have taken me to the handball court, as a player or referee.
Playing sports was one of the factors that kept me going through university, my auditing job and then ACCA studies. Being able to relax through sport was incredibly important to me, no matter if it was on the court, the gym, running or playing with friends. I believe that any kind of leisure activity sustains a growing career, and I was lucky enough to have managers who understood that.
I also love to travel. Being able to see the world grounds us. It made me understand that my way of life was not the only way, and it made me open to other opinions – something that is reflected in my working life.
