Finance leadership plays a vital role in helping organisations survive as well as thrive. This has been become more evident than ever over the past 18 months, as finance teams have demonstrated an agile response to the challenges posed by the pandemic.
A report by ACCA and PwC called Finance functions: seizing the opportunity asks how finance functions should capitalise on the greater relevance they have achieved within organisations as a result, and how they can realise opportunities to demonstrate their value.
Three key areas are identified as the focal point of opportunity, particularly in South-East Asia:
- expanding the digital transformation thrust while forging trust and good ethics
- playing the role of vertical and lateral super-connectors within the organisation – vertically by helping to convert strategy into operations, and laterally by bringing together different functions and business units towards the common goal
- addressing sustainability imperatives, including the climate emergency, the impact from and on natural capital, and social inequality issues
