ACCA Community Day, ACCA Hong Kong’s celebrated flagship event, drew crowds to Central district in mid-January with its usual mix of fun and fundraising.

Themed ‘120 Years of Impact: Run Ahead to a Sustainable Future’, this year’s event marked ACCA’s 120th anniversary and showcased its longstanding commitment to sustainable development.

Participants from more than 40 organisations – including accountancy firms, academic institutions and professional bodies – took part. The focus of the day was the fast and furious rickshaw races; this year’s overall winner was Team EY FSO.

Guest of honour was Financial Secretary Paul Chan – who also founded ACCA Community Day during his tenure as ACCA Hong Kong chairman. ‘ACCA Hong Kong provides valuable input to the government on the Budget every year, and is actively involved in charitable endeavours,’ he said in his opening address. ‘I hope that all of you will continue to contribute to society by leveraging your expertise in your respective professional fields.’

‘ACCA Hong Kong has always been committed to walking alongside society’

In total, nearly HK$800,000 was raised for local charities Hong Kong Playground Association, ImpactHK and Our Hands Green Association. Since the initiative was founded in 1997, nearly HK$24m has been raised for good causes.

ACCA Community Day 2024 was made possible thanks to the support of corporate sponsors Chartwell Capital, FWD Group, the Tencent Charity Foundation and Ultra Active Technology.

‘ACCA Hong Kong has always been committed to walking alongside society, whether it’s through contributing to the community or enhancing professional standards in the industry,’ said Dr Danny Po, ACCA Hong Kong chairman.

‘Looking ahead, ACCA will stay true to its mission, continuing to shoulder social responsibility and promoting the spirit of love and care in Hong Kong while making further contributions to the industry.’
