ACCA has been continuing to promote the interests of members and the profession in Zambia.
In March, chief executive Helen Brand and Africa director Jamil Ampomah joined the ACCA Zambia team, key stakeholders and partners to explore ways to support efforts to drive the profession forward in the country.
Stakeholders taking part included key public sector representatives, employers, education providers and members of the local ACCA community.
Strategic discussions
Together with ACCA Zambia member advisory panel chair Mulendo Siame FCCA and vice chair Sally Ross FCCA, Brand and Ampomah held strategic discussions with Kennedy Musonda, accountant general of the Republic of Zambia, and Christopher Mvunga FCCA, governor of the Central Bank of Zambia.
Participants discussed how the thousands of finance professionals that make up the ACCA community can support the rebuilding of the Zambian economy and the smooth implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards in 2024.
Thought leaders
On the second day, the visitors came together with thought leaders from top employers in the country to discuss the impact of ACCA’s work in the country. Those present included:
- Mildred Mutesa FCCA, managing director, Zambia National Building Society
- Chearyp Sokoni FCCA, group CFO, Industrial Development Corporation

- Jason Kazilimani FCCA, CEO, KPMG Zambia
Janice Matwi, head of ACCA Zambia, commented: ‘The interactions with our public-sector partners generated valuable insights into how ACCA and its members can aid economic prosperity post Covid-19, while the employer roundtable highlighted best practice during the pandemic disruption and the importance of adjusting business models to survive the new normal.’
