The November edition of AB includes extensive coverage of the outputs of the COP 26 climate change conference. Our daily articles from the event focused on the impact for professional accountants, including insights from ACCA members.

Continuing the COP26 theme, our main interview this month is with Melanie Richards, founder of CSR Solutions in Trinidad and Tobago, who talks about how studying with ACCA helped kickstart her career in sustainability consultancy. Read how she believes that people are ‘finally understanding the relationship between organisations, society and the environment’.

We have a review of the EU’s country-by-country reporting directive designed to force multinational companies to reveal publicly what profits they make, and taxes they pay, in every country in which they operate. And, in the Caribbean, the Big Four firms reveal how finance teams will use data to transform the way they work.

Also this month, AB has launched a series of podcasts for small and medium-sized practitioners. The first episode looks at how to manage your team in a lockdown, with practical insights from practitioners in the UK (Chris Biggs) and India (Ajay Sethi). The second talks about how to differentiate your firm from the competition, with tips from practitioner Robert Belle FCCA in Kenya, and marketing consultant and regular AB contributor Jason Ball in the UK.

We also have a selection of articles that offer CPD units – about the recently announced sustainability standards; and how to deal with anger in the workplace. More to come next month as we head towards the 31 December CPD deadline.
