ACCA Kenya has launched a university challenge to help ACCA students become leaders capable of building credible and resilient businesses and driving long-term value.

Called the ACCA Strategic Business Leader Inter-University Challenge, it will present students with case studies in a simulated workplace. The students will have to combine their technical, ethical and professional skills to evaluate, synthesise and present their responses. By the end of the challenge, the students should have gained a valuable understanding of the relevance of key competencies in business leadership.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Steve Obuogo of ACCA Kenya said: ‘This challenge is a platform for preparing leaders for the future.’

Applications pour in

The response from students has been overwhelming. A month after the challenge opened to applications, more than 266 teams (with four students on each team) from 38 institutions across 15 of Kenya’s counties had registered.

The four members of the winning team will each receive a Ksh150,000 scholarship towards their ACCA fees, a laptop, certificate, trophy and gift hamper. Members of the first and second runner-up teams will each receive a smartphone, certificate, trophy and gift hamper.

In addition, all members of the three top teams will have the opportunity to apply for internships/job placements with 10 top employers who have partnered with ACCA on this initiative: four jobs and 14 internships are available. Winners will also have access to career mentorship opportunities with top business leaders and industry experts.
