After a turbulent 2023, it’s good to focus on the positive. One way we’re doing this in AB this month is by taking a look back at the ACCA members we have profiled this year, showcasing the breadth of expertise, innovation and professionalism demonstrated by leading accounting professionals from ACCA’s global community. Among them are inspiring interviewees Kennedy Kaposa FCCA, CFO of Ditsong Museums of South Africa, and Phindile Ndlandla FCCA, CFO of Letshego Eswatini and a recipient of ACCA Africa’s Young CFO of the Year award.

This month, we speak with Maryam Abisola Adefarati FCCA, CFO of Microsoft’s Africa regional cluster, based in Nigeria. After finance roles with leading brands such as Coca-Cola and Pernod Ricard, she is now helping to build Microsoft’s presence in the region through finance strategy and risk and compliance support. On the practice front, meanwhile, we meet cycling enthusiast Andrew Chibuye FCCA, senior partner at PwC Zambia.

Elsewhere, senior ACCA members discuss the talent crunch in South Africa and what can be done to tackle it, while an article on diversity and inclusion explains why trawling a broader and deeper talent pool is the smart thing to do. In addition, this month’s career article focuses on how creative thinking can help you solve problems and get results.

And finally, for those of you looking to top up your learning and development, our CPD section has a range of articles offering units that count towards your continuing professional development.

We look forward to welcoming you again in 2024.
