This month we meet two members who have left the country of their birth in pursuit of professional fulfilment. Ali Sarfaraz FCCA swapped the heat of Oman for North America, where he is now corporate controller of Qikiqtaaluk Corporation, an Inuit birthright development corporation based, quite literally, at the end of the road to nowhere (which in this case is Iqaluit in Nunavut, Canada). He talks with passion about the work he does helping the region’s economic development.

Hussain Al Qadhi ACCA made the shorter journey across the Gulf from Bahrain to Saudi Arabia where diversification away from oil is fuelling new sectors. Now financial controller of Cool Inc, a startup that’s aiming to develop luxury hospitality and leisure activities in the kingdom, he is excited at the opportunities ahead as the business takes off.

We also look at how businesses in India are keeping their operations running smoothly in face of supply chain disruptions, and the ethical issues to consider when planning a digital transformation in Pakistan.

Finally, an EY report has found that keeping employees motivated and engaged is crucial to successful change programmes. It lists six key ways that leaders can put their people at the heart of organisational transformation.
