My family’s entrepreneurial background encouraged me to enter the finance and accounting world. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I wanted to start my career but also continue my studies, so I took a master’s in accounting. This is how I stepped into the Big Four and began my journey with ACCA.
I always set myself very high standards for every project. I believe I have a mindset that recognises there is always something new to discover. This kind of thinking has helped me to keep learning through continuous development.
I did not realise how big a part the European Investment Bank (EIB) plays in improving people’s daily lives across Europe and the world before I joined the organisation. Since its foundation in 1958, the EIB has invested over €1.5 trillion in more than 14,400 projects in over 160 countries across many different sectors. This has sustained over 4.5 million jobs in small businesses.

The EIB is a unique workplace. In addition to finance professionals, we have engineers, economists, lawyers and environmental experts involved in all the decision-making behind our financial products. The opinion of each is considered as a key condition for the successful implementation of any project. Therefore, even in such a big organisation you can see your role; that is sometimes challenging but also rewarding.
The inflation caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, following Covid-19, now threatens to derail Europe’s recovery. The EIB continues to play its role as countercyclical bank with financial support. Since the invasion, the EIB has provided more than €5bn to tackle urgent challenges in Ukraine, such as repairing the transport network in Kharkiv. It has also ensured that public services in EU countries hosting refugees can be scaled up, and are not hampered by financial constraints. Even the former EIB creche in Luxembourg is now used to provide education for 80 of the most vulnerable Ukrainian child refugees.
The EIB doesn’t just offer regular lending products. It also supplies various forms of portfolio guarantees, capital relief instruments. and a suite of technical assistance and advisory services.
If I had law-making powers, I would like a cleaner Europe. Considering the level of waste each citizen produces annually, I would start with a sustainable product policy that could then be translated into specific legislation. This would go hand in hand with expected economic growth and our digital age.
What I enjoy about my current role is that it’s challenging and mentally rewarding. Varied EIB projects have given me an opportunity to discover my boundaries and then create new ones.

If I weren’t a finance professional, I would have liked to be a wine producer. I enjoy seeing vineyards at sunset and discovering new wine creations.
It is important to me to start every morning with mental priming and physical exercise, as this uplifts my entire day. Cardio exercise always gives me a burst of additional energy and motivation. I am also passionate about numismatics; discovering the history of each old coin takes me back to the century it was minted.
