As regular readers of AB will know, ACCA members dominate the top echelons of Formula 1 finance roles. This month we feature an interview with McLaren Racing CFO Laura Bowden FCCA. Having worked her way up through the finance team, Bowden has been in its pole position since February 2020, overseeing compliance with new cost cap rules and now working closely on the company’s sustainability agenda. Find more about F1 finance in her interview this month.

October is the month when Global Ethics Day falls. We showcase an ACCA report on applying ethics to sustainability reporting. We also look at how companies can build an ethical culture, and how ethical frameworks can support this.

It’s also the month of the Budget. We highlight the key measures, while columnist Ian Guider examines the challenge of providing immediate help with the cost-of-living crisis while also meeting long-term sustainability goals.

With economic crime on the rise, we look at how a specialist Garda unit is working with accountants to address money laundering and fraud. And we report on the findings of an ACCA survey on talent trends in Europe, which suggests hybrid working is here to stay.

Lastly, just a reminder that registration for ACCA’s annual virtual conference ‘Accounting for the Future’ is now open. Find out about the topics under discussion over the three days (with 21 CPD units on offer), and register to watch live on 21-23 November or on demand. For members in the public sector, ACCA’s Virtual Public Sector Conference is being run on 24 November (and available on demand). Find out more.
