The World Bank and IMF annual Spring Meeting, April 2024

ACCA members and future members will soon have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience at the World Bank, one of the world’s leading financial organisations.

ACCA has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the World Bank, following discussions initiated at the ACCA Africa Members Convention in December 2023 with Samuel Munzele Maimbo FCCA, the bank’s vice president for budget, performance review and strategic planning, whom we profiled in AB earlier this year.

The five-year partnership will see the two organisations collaborate to develop an internship programme for top-performing ACCA students and early-career members, starting with a pilot in the Africa region.

The internships, which will be for 12 months and based in Washington, DC or other World Bank offices worldwide, will provide an opportunity to contribute to the bank’s work and mission, while gaining practical work experience in relevant finance and accounting functions.

‘In times of great and increasing uncertainty, maintaining an agile, skilled and diverse workforce is the best investment an organisation can make to secure its future,’ said Samuel.

The MoU lays the foundation for future dynamic exchange of ideas, resources, and expertise between the two organisations.
