I started my career after graduating from the business college in my hometown. After working in a local bank for three years, I considered whether to pursue a master’s degree or a professional qualification, which was when I encountered ACCA. I liked the idea that the qualification would not only allow me to pursue professional qualifications but, at the same time, a BSc in applied accounting and an MSc in professional accountancy. Long story short, six months after starting ACCA, I joined EY in Jakarta.

Today, I’m a financial accounting advisory consultant at EY. I work closely with clients to offer strategic financial advice, helping them navigate complex financial reporting requirements and maintain compliance with everchanging accounting and regulatory standards.

I value positive societal contributions such as volunteering

The rapid pace of digital transformation is also significantly reshaping business models. Many of our clients encounter difficulties in integrating new technologies. The rise of data analytics and artificial intelligence is transforming how we deliver services, with deeper insights and more strategic recommendations. Such challenges and trends have inspired me to continuously learn and adapt.

Working alongside talented professionals and industry leaders is my biggest career achievement. However, I believe this is just the early stage of my career. I’m excited to continue this journey, leveraging my skills and knowledge to drive meaningful change to the accounting profession.

I aspire to balance my professional ambitions with my personal interest in mentoring, sharing my experiences to inspire young professionals in navigating their career plans. I value positive societal contributions such as volunteering where I can give back to the community. I’m committed to lifelong learning, whether through formal education, professional certifications, self-study or engaging in diverse experiences that broaden my perspective.

I’ve had the opportunity to connect with mentors and industry leaders

I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by supportive family, friends, great leaders and mentors, who have all really inspired me. Their support played a crucial role in shaping my career, enabling me to overcome challenges with resilience and adaptability. I have also worked with great leaders and mentors at EY who have provided detailed guidance and inspired me to strive for high standards.

The ACCA qualification has provided comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, as well as how to apply concepts in real-world scenarios. The ACCA network is also truly valuable. I’ve had the opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, mentors and industry leaders who, during the early part of my career, shared insights that have shaped who I am today.

If I weren’t an accountant, I’d probably go for a career in academia, either as a lecturer or researcher in accounting and finance. This would allow me to share knowledge, meet new people and contribute to the future of profession. As a lecturer I’d shape the educational experiences of students and prepare them for successful careers. In addition, I’d conduct research into emerging topics, such as finance transformation and sustainability reporting.
