I work in the online revenue team at Flutter and focus on bingo and poker for the Paddy Power and Betfair brands. I look after the relationship with our US racecourse clients and ensure billing is accurate and timely. I am also responsible for B2B invoicing, which is an important part of our business. Keeping our finance business partners up to date on performance vs forecast and budget is also important.
My managers have always prompted me to take control of my work and let me focus on areas that interest me. This has allowed me to find a role I truly love and undertake other projects outside of the day-to-day. For example, I organised a Cheltenham preview evening for the whole office which featured a panel of tipsters and refreshments. I’m a keen horse racing fan, so this was an amazing thing for me to plan.
It’s important to allow yourself to make mistakes and to learn from them
The most important business lesson I have learned is to be kind. This applies to the people around you, of course, but you also need to be kind to yourself. It’s important to allow yourself to make mistakes and to learn from them.
I became a member of ACCA in 2022. Studying during the pandemic was definitely not the easiest thing to do. It was extremely difficult to work and to study in the same room, although the lack of distractions certainly kept me focused. I achieved the highest mark in Ireland and third worldwide in the audit and assurance exam. Advanced performance management was my last exam and I placed first in the world, which was a lovely way to complete my years of ACCA study. I was also second-placed affiliate in Ireland for 2022, with an average mark of 82%.
It’s time to broaden my horizons by spending some time in another country
As my career evolves, I would like to travel more. The pandemic has kept me based in Ireland for the past four years. Now it’s time to broaden my horizons by spending some time in another country. Fortunately, Flutter is a global sports betting, gaming and entertainment provider, with many offices across the world.
To get away from it all, I love going to the gym. I put my headphones on and get down to training with no distractions. Dancing is another passion. I’ve been dancing since I was three years old, and it’s a great way to switch off from the world.
