Taking the leap into internal audit was daunting. After I qualified, I was working as an external auditor, but I found myself more interested in understanding how businesses operate, which led me to internal audit. It has been one of the best decisions of my life, and has pushed me to learn and evolve in ways I hadn’t imagined.

I believe that AI is having a positive impact on internal audit, risk and compliance. It’s making things more efficient and accurate, which leads to better results. But AI should be seen as a tool that supports auditors, not something that can replace the judgment and experience they bring. The human touch is vital for understanding the bigger picture and giving clients the service that only a person can provide.

Working women must be recognised and respected through legislation

One of Bahrain’s main challenges is its continued reliance on oil revenues. It makes the economy vulnerable to fluctuations in global oil prices. Bahrain has been making significant efforts to diversify its economy, and opportunities are emerging in financial services, technology, tourism and real estate. Government initiatives are attracting foreign investment, while the developing digital infrastructure and start-ups are creating a more dynamic economic environment.

I am deeply passionate about women’s rights. If I had the power, I would create laws that support women, especially mothers, by providing flexible work arrangements and access to quality childcare. I would also introduce maternity and paternity leave that lasts at least a year. Paternity leave is often treated as secondary, especially in this part of the world, but I believe it’s just as important in creating a balanced home environment. Supporting women in the workplace isn’t just about equal pay or opportunities, but more about creating an environment where women can truly thrive, both professionally and personally. Working women must be recognised and respected through legislation.

I would like to see better legal protection for animals. I believe that this world isn’t just ours; we share it with an incredible ecosystem and countless animals who deserve our protection. If I could, I would ban animal testing and enforce much stricter penalties for animal abuse. The ethical treatment of animals isn’t optional, it’s essential.

I have amazing colleagues and meet clients from all kinds of backgrounds. It’s the best thing about my job. They have all helped me to grow – both professionally and personally.

When I can, I really enjoy curling up with a good book, especially with a cat snuggled beside me

My favourite quote is ‘the best is yet to come’. It’s a simple but powerful reminder that no matter what challenges I face, there’s always hope for something better ahead. I believe that God has a plan for all of us, and trusting in that gives me the strength to keep moving forward. This mindset helps me stay positive and patient, knowing that blessings are on their way, even if I can’t see them yet.

If I wasn’t a risk consultant I would have been a veterinarian. Working with animals every day would be a dream come true.

I have six very spoiled cats and a dog. I am passionate about animal welfare and rescue stray cats and dogs that need my help. When I can, I really enjoy curling up with a good book, especially with a cat snuggled beside me. It’s the perfect way to unwind.
